1926 Pontiac came out of the brand Oakland. The name has been taken from the Indian chief of the Ottawa, therefore the Indian head in the brand logo. In 2009 because of ongoing financial problems and restructuring efforts, General Motors announced it would discontinue the Pontiac brand by the end of 2010.
