Walter Percy Chrysler was the president of Buick as well as deputy director of General Motors before he started to construct own automobiles in 1924. Chrysler bought 1928 Dodge and created the brands Plymouth and De Soto. 1998 Chrysler and Daimler Benz joint to the new company Daimler Chrysler.
